An illustrated account of the ancestry and heraldry of the Herrick family, and of their home at Beaumanor, Woodhouse, Leicestershire.
The Herrick family’s association with Beaumanor began in 1595 when William Heyricke acquired the estate. Heyricke, a prosperous London goldsmith, ascended to the position of Court Jeweller to King James I and was later appointed Master of the Goldsmiths, earning a knighthood in 1605. Over five generations, the estate remained in the hands of William Herricks until the passing of William Herrick VI in 1832, leaving no male heir. Subsequently, the inheritance of the Beaumanor estate fell to his nephew, William Herrick VII. Alongside his mother, William VII relocated to Beaumanor, accompanied by his sisters, Mary Ann and Lucy, continuing the family’s legacy on the estate.
