Description
This rare volume features the distinctive blind stamp for “Derreen, Kenmare, Co. Kerry,” marking it as an incredible provenance piece from the library of the Marquess of Lansdowne at Derreen House, Ireland. It is a direct survivor of the historic estate, which was plundered and burned in 1922 during the Irish Civil War. Bound in handsome half leather with marbled boards, it shows minor rubbing, remaining clean internally with only light edge foxing.
FROM A LARGE PRIVATE ESTATE COLLECTION: This volume is part of a substantial, uniform, custom-bound library collection from the historic Derreen Estate in County Kerry. I will be listing over 30 matching companion volumes from this identical collection over the coming weeks. If you are looking to build a matching display of rare Irish estate history, please favourite my shop to see new titles as they are added.
