This is the story of a journey taken by one couple through the pain of infertility and the maze of investigations, treatments, Inseminations and adoption applications, culminating in the adoption of two children. It is, however, inevitably more my story than my husband’s. We shared so much in our longing for children we could love and call her own. But the roads we travelled, though often converging at times, seemed to veer off in separate directions. We learned that, as male and female and as two distinct personalities, we often reacted in very different ways. I can only write from my own perspective, including, where possible, comments he has made, feelings he has expressed. He is in full accord with the substance of this book, and his support in countless ways has made it possible for me to write it.
