William Barnes was a Dorsetshire poet. He executed woodcuts for several publications and contributed to ‘County Chronicle’ in 1833. His ‘Poems in Dorset Dialect was first published in 1844. He wrote many other works and his poems in Dorset dialect were collected in 1879.
