Description

In the book, Air Commodore Raymond assigns Biggles, Algy, Ginger, and Bertie to track down a German submarine, U-517, under the command of the ruthless Commander Von Schonbeck. Instead of surrendering after the war, the U-boat escaped with a hoard of stolen gold. The team travels to the remote Kerguelen Island in the French Indian Ocean territory to locate the U-boat’s secret base, leading to confrontations, a firing squad escape, and a final showdown in a bog.
